Swedish craftsmanship with soul – Bröderna Anderssons present this year’s news at the Gothenburg Furniture Fair

With over a century in the business, Bröderna Anderssons continues to invest in Swedish furniture production. At their factory in Ekenässjön, just outside Vetlanda, each piece is crafted from the ground up – from raw timber to finished furniture. At this year’s Gothenburg Furniture Fair, the company will present a colorful and curvier collection that breaks away from minimalist design.

Now run by the third generation – cousins Jan Andersson, Kjell Maxson, and Peter Maxson – the company remains committed to producing locally and sustainably. At a time when many have moved production abroad, Bröderna Anderssons is one of the few that has kept everything within Sweden.

– We’re foolish enough to keep production in Sweden, but money isn’t everything. I enjoy continuing the tradition,” says Jan Andersson, CEO and Head of Sales.

In addition to supporting local employment, sustainability has long been central to the company’s philosophy. Since 1946, they have offered reupholstery services – a solution that benefits both the environment and the wallet.

– The frame is built to outlast the fabric many times over. It’s great to be able to reupholster furniture, both for the environment and the wallet,” says Jan Andersson.

This year’s highlights – color, form, and innovation

Visitors to the Gothenburg Furniture Fair can look forward to the launch of the new rounded sofa Amy in orange, the updated armchair Focus featuring unique mechanics, and the popular model Chic in a new version with a low back

– We see the trend moving toward softer shapes. We’re embracing that in our new products. When you sit in the new Focus armchair, which also offers a softer silhouette, you can rock, adjust the seating angle, and change the backrest position. We are the only ones with that mechanism,” he explains.

The color palette has also shifted – from neutral tones to more expressive colors like yellow, orange, and floral cretonnes.

The furniture fair – a strategic meeting point

For Bröderna Anderssons, the Gothenburg Furniture Fair is an essential showcase. With 95 percent of Swedish retailers attending, and increasing interest from other Nordic countries, it’s a crucial platform to present new products, build relationships, and secure orders.

– Hopefully we’ll get our furniture into the retailers’ showrooms and receive real orders,” says Jan Andersson.

The fair also gets high marks for its structure:

– The Gothenburg Furniture Fair is a home furniture fair, and we really see the value in attending for the second year. It’s well-organized, affordable, and has a great three-day setup. I mostly look forward to meeting both new and returning friendly customers.”
