Strong interest in the Gothenburg Furniture Fair in challenging times

This year’s Gothenburg Furniture Fair gathered 79 exhibitors and 1,794 visits over three intensive days at the Swedish Exhibition & Congress Centre in Gothenburg. Here, the industry came together to discover new products in furniture, interior design and lighting, as well as to build contacts and do business.

– We are very pleased with the outcome. Many exhibitors report good sales and new business contacts, which demonstrates the importance of the fair for the industry, says Klas Pettersson, Business Manager.

Nordic presence

The fourth edition of the Gothenburg Furniture Fair also attracted visitors from neighboring Nordic countries.
– It’s great that we have drawn so many from Denmark, Norway and Finland, says George Makdessi, Chairman of MIBO.

Despite a challenging economic climate, the fair gathered more exhibitors than last year.
– That’s a sign of strength. The Gothenburg Furniture Fair shows that the industry sees the value of meeting here and that there are business opportunities even in a difficult market, says Klas Pettersson.

Business in focus

Among this year’s exhibitors was Bröderna Anderssons, the Småland-based furniture manufacturer known for its craftsmanship and upholstered furniture.
– For us, these days are a bit like an exam. We showcase new products and get feedback from retailers on what has commercial potential. On top of that, we’ve made business – including a large order from a Norwegian furniture chain with 70 stores, says CEO Jan Andersson.

Scandinavia’s largest manufacturer and wholesaler of bedding, Norvigroup, also took part.
– It’s been absolutely fantastic. We’ve gained many new customers but also had valuable visits from existing ones. The Gothenburg Furniture Fair is an important place for us to be visible, says Lise Øvergård Lindberg, Country Manager Sweden.

Looking ahead to 2026

The organizer emphasizes the fair’s clear focus on purchasing as a decisive strength.
– Those who come here are highly focused on purchasing, which means every meeting has the potential to become the start of a new deal, says Klas Pettersson.

Preparations for the next edition are already underway. The Gothenburg Furniture Fair 2026 will take place on 8–10 September.
– We will continue on the same path, but we also see potential to grow by attracting more home interior suppliers as exhibitors, says Klas Pettersson.
