Skene Textile company makes its trade fair debut

At this year’s Gothenburg Furniture Fair, visitors will have the opportunity to discover Franzéns Textil—one of this year’s first-time exhibitors. The family-owned company will also unveil a unique collaboration with the Swedish Mayflower Charity (Majblomman).

Based in Skene, Franzéns Textil is exhibiting at Gothenburg Furniture Fair for the first time. The family business was founded 26 years ago by Tommy Franzén, whose path into the textile industry was almost predetermined.

“Both my father and grandfather ran textile companies. I studied textile design and started working in the family business warehouse when I was 19,” says Tommy Franzén.

After several years in sales and purchasing, Tommy considered taking over the family business when his father retired.

“But I wanted to experience working for someone else first. After just a couple of years, I realised it wasn’t for me.”

From SEK 10 million to SEK 160 million in revenue

Tommy founded Franzéns Textil, and within its first year the company reached a turnover of SEK 10 million. Since then, the business has grown steadily and today employs 17 people with annual revenue of approximately SEK 160 million.

“When I started the company, my goal was to reach around SEK 20 million in revenue. But we’ve continued to develop, acquired two companies along the way, and grown consistently.”

From an early stage, the company has represented the Borganäs of Sweden brand, offering a wide range of products in different patterns, colours and sizes.

“For furniture retailers, our main focus is fitted sheets and mattress protectors. We offer every standard size and maintain excellent stock availability,” Tommy explains.

“We aim to be a reliable partner, offering fast deliveries, competitive prices and a high level of service.”

In recent years, the company has also added the Fritz Magnus brand, primarily serving the hospitality sector.

Tommy describes the business as resting on three pillars: public procurement, hotels and restaurants, and retail.

World premiere for collaboration with Majblomman

This year’s Gothenburg Furniture Fair marks Franzéns Textil’s first appearance as an exhibitor. The company hopes the fair will help strengthen its presence within the furniture retail sector.

“We already work with a handful of furniture retailers, but we have a product range that is very well suited to furniture stores.”

Alongside its core range of fitted sheets and mattress protectors, Franzéns Textil will introduce an exciting new product: a collaboration between Borganäs of Sweden and Majblomman, Sweden’s well-known children’s charity.

“We’ve recently developed a new pattern together with Majblomman. Gothenburg Furniture Fair will be the world premiere for the collection.”

During the fair, Tommy is looking forward to building new relationships and creating new business opportunities.

“We haven’t exhibited at a trade fair since before the pandemic. My goal is to meet new people, build valuable connections and generate new business.”

Why should visitors stop by your stand?

“To discover a new supplier for the furniture retail market. I think we’ll surprise visitors with our quality, service and stock availability. And we’ll probably be serving some popcorn as well,” Tommy Franzén says with a smile.
