Timeless Textile Lampshades – Alde & Lind Exhibits at Gothenburg Furniture Fair

Timeless design, premium textiles, and atmospheric lighting. Alde & Lind creates lamps that bring warmth and character to the home. This autumn, visitors to Gothenburg Furniture Fair will have the opportunity to experience the company’s thoughtfully curated collection.

“It takes quite a few lamps in a room to create the right atmosphere,” says Stefan Alderin.

Stefan Alderin developed an interest in interiors and lighting from an early age. Today, he runs Alde & Lind together with Monika Lindström—a company that has made textile lampshades and timeless design its signature.

The two first met while working in the lighting industry, a meeting that eventually led to the creation of their own company.
“I believe that people in our industry are colleagues, even if we’re competitors. We got to know each other, and after a while we both felt ready to create something new,” Stefan says.

After long careers in product development and purchasing, Stefan and Monika had developed a strong understanding of what the market was looking for. Equally important was the extensive network they had built across the lighting industry.
“We founded Alde & Lind four years ago. Just six months later, we filled a 45-square-metre exhibition stand with our products,” says Stefan.

Since that strong start, the collection has continued to evolve and mature. From day one, the focus has been on producing lamps with high-quality textile shades.
“We don’t really talk about trends. Our lamps are designed to be timeless, and the entire collection works together beautifully, whether the fabrics are patterned, striped or plain.”

Growing Demand for Textile Lampshades

Textile lampshades have become Alde & Lind’s hallmark, and according to Stefan, interest continues to grow.
“We’re coming from an era dominated by exposed light bulbs. Textile shades add something extra. The fabric diffuses the light beautifully, and different textiles allow you to create many different lighting effects.”

Colour and textiles are among the strongest trends in lighting today.
“There are so many possibilities—from coarse or fine fabrics to textures like corduroy and velvet, as well as a much broader use of colour.”

Stefan and Monika design every product themselves. Almost all of Alde & Lind’s textile lampshades are manufactured in Europe, while the wooden and metal lamp bases are produced in India.
“We’re constantly exchanging ideas, and then we visit the factories where we continue refining and developing the products together with the manufacturers.”

Curiosity and openness are at the heart of the company. The team is continually exploring new textiles and materials. Their bestselling collections are Pollux and Figo.

Although Alde & Lind operates an online store, it primarily serves as a product showcase rather than a sales channel.
“We want to be represented in stores that actively promote our products and enjoy telling our story. Examples include Svenska Hem and Lilla Soffbutiken in Gothenburg.”

In addition to its own collection, Alde & Lind also helps other companies and brands with lighting production, design and product development.

Bringing the Entire Collection to Gothenburg Furniture Fair

Alde & Lind will once again exhibit at Gothenburg Furniture Fair this year. Without a permanent showroom, trade fairs provide an ideal opportunity to present the full breadth of the collection.
“At the fair, we can showcase our entire range. When visiting customers, you can only bring so much in a car. Gothenburg Furniture Fair also gives us the chance to meet many new customers from western Sweden and Norway.”

Why Should Visitors Stop by Your Stand?

“We’ll be launching new products at the fair. Visitors will have the opportunity to meet us in person and experience the entire collection in one place,” says Stefan Alderin.
