Hundreds of business meetings and an exhibition floor showcasing furniture, rugs, textiles and a broader selection of interior products than in previous years. After several challenging years, signs of cautious optimism emerged as the furniture and interiors industry gathered at Gothenburg Furniture Fair.
For three days each year, the exhibition hall is transformed into an inspiring home interior environment, showcasing new products and collections from across the furniture and interiors industry.
The seventh edition of Gothenburg Furniture Fair took place on 8–10 September at the Swedish Exhibition & Congress Centre. Organised in collaboration with MIBO, the Swedish trade association for furniture and interior companies, the fair welcomed 1,724 visitors.
This year’s exhibitors included both established participants such as Bröderna Anderssons and first-time exhibitors including Blomus and Creatura.
“Here, we meet representatives from nearly all Swedish furniture retailers. Gothenburg Furniture Fair provides an excellent opportunity to present our latest products and receive valuable feedback directly from retailers,” says Jan Andersson of Bröderna Anderssons.
Textile company Creatura made the decision to exhibit just a few days before the fair opened.
“We are new to the industry and have attracted a great deal of interest. We gained new customers on the very first day, and the fair has also provided a valuable opportunity to meet and network with others in the industry,” says Izabelle Andersson, who founded Creatura together with her close friend Tintin Borg in 2024.
One of the defining features of this year’s edition was the greater diversity among exhibitors.
“This year, companies from PUFF, the Swedish Gift Suppliers Association, also participated. This gave the interiors segment a stronger presence and complemented our more traditional exhibitors very well. Our ambition is for the fair to reflect the breadth of products that today’s furniture retailers offer their customers,” says Klas Pettersson, Business Manager for Gothenburg Furniture Fair.
Gothenburg Furniture Fair provides buyers with an opportunity to meet representatives from a wide range of brands, explore their offerings and discuss business in a focused environment.
“Our focus is on quality rather than quantity. We want to attract the right visitors – industry professionals with genuine business potential for our exhibitors,” says Klas Pettersson.
From his conversations with MIBO members, Chairman George Makdessi senses that the market may be beginning to improve. Could Gothenburg Furniture Fair 2026 mark the start of more positive times for an industry that has faced several challenging years?
“The fair is an important meeting place where people can exchange ideas, reconnect with industry colleagues and gain insight into developments across the sector. Many of the people I have spoken to feel that the market is beginning to improve after several difficult years,” says George Makdessi.
The next edition of Gothenburg Furniture Fair will take place on 13–15 September 2027.
